Prior to POLITICO, Declan reported on the financial industry, cryptocurrencies and regulation for Fortune and S&P Global Market Intelligence. He also, at one point, spent time working on the open outcry trading floors of Chicago.

He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016. He now lives outside of Chicago with his wife, two kids and dog.
