President Bush's press secretary Dana Perino included this line in the White House response to the Virginia Tech massacre:

"The President believes that there is a right for people to bear arms."

It may be too early for candidates to come out with anything other than condolences, and we don't yet know where the shooter got his gun, but it does seem like this is probably the time in the cycle when candidates of both parties have to stop tip-toeing around the gun issue.
