Mark McQuillan

Mark McQuillan has been the Financial Services editor for POLITICO Pro since May 2016.

He came to POLITICO from Bloomberg News, where he served in a variety of positions, including as Washington bureau chief and as the bureau’s top enterprise editor. He led teams covering international trade and finance, financial regulation, the Supreme Court and the yearlong campaign to enact Obamacare. Prior to that, he was an editor in Tokyo for Bloomberg, leading the coverage of the Japanese economy, the Bank of Japan and the financial markets.

He also worked on the Japan Economic Journal, the English-language version of Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun, where he managed teams of Japanese editors and reporters covering the nation's economy and government. He has freelanced for publications such as the Financial Times, the International Herald Tribune and Tokyo Journal.

Born and raised in New York City, McQuillan spent more than a decade living, working and traveling in Japan, India and other parts of Asia. He lives in Arlington and commutes as often as he can to Charleston, South Carolina, where his wife and children live.
