Pledging Transparency

Hillary's giving a speech today in New Hampshire that uses the latest White House scandals to call for government reform.

The main early detail is that she'll talk about saving money by firing contractors, long a goal of public sector unions and some policy types, but not something that cuts to the heart of what the current White House email mess is about: executive branch secrecy.

And Clinton, including in her Iraq war vote, has always displayed considerable respect for the White House's prerogatives, understandably, as she lived in a White House that was at times under siege.

But this does seem like a pretty good moment to press her, and other candidates, to commit to transparency measures, from regular news conferences to changing classification practices. The name of the game these days, after all, is, at least in part, who can be least like Bush.

Any suggestions?
