POLITICO's Values

At POLITICO, we are driven by our values which ultimately shape our organization’s culture and norms.

How were the values created?

Over the course of two months in early 2018, a group of 16 individuals from across the organization worked to develop POLITICO’s values. This group spent time discussing and analyzing the key principles that we should foster and encourage in our work.

In addition to creating our POLITICO values with this working group, we also created a culture champions program for the organization. Our culture champions program consists of individuals from each department at POLITICO who work closely with their HR Business Partner to drive engagement initiatives. Here's a quote from one of our culture champions: “My favorite part about being a culture champion is that fact that I get to connect with everyone on my team. I also enjoy coming together with the other culture champions in different departments to see what they are working on.”

Recognizing our values

Each year we highlight POLITICO’s values on Values Day to celebrate the tenants that distinguish POLITICO’s culture. Past Values Days have consisted of POLITICOs learning about the values, committing to exhibiting the values in their daily work, and talking about how important our values are in a remote work environment.

To continue our values recognition, once a quarter we host an engagement series called Behind the Value. During the session senior leaders across the organization share how they see people on their teams exhibit each value and what the value means to them personally.
