Sudeep Reddy

Sudeep Reddy is senior managing editor of POLITICO, overseeing coverage and strategy for policy news across the publication.

Since joining POLITICO as managing editor in 2017, he has led journalists on a wide range of teams across politics and policy including the White House, Playbook, digital operations, live events and audio. He also served as the lead editor for newsroom operations overseeing talent, training, standards and policies, diversity programs, budgets and more.

Reddy previously spent a decade in The Wall Street Journal’s Washington bureau, where he was an economics editor directing coverage of U.S. and international economic news. He joined the Journal in 2007 as a U.S. economics reporter covering the Federal Reserve and financial crisis and later served as the Journal’s international economics correspondent, covering developments across the global economy, White House, Treasury Department, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, G-7 and G-20. He arrived in the capital as a Washington correspondent at The Dallas Morning News, covering the intersection of business and politics. Earlier, he covered the energy industry in Texas and business issues before the Texas Legislature in Austin.

Reddy has received numerous awards for his work in print and online. The Society of American Business Editors and Writers recognized him for coverage of the economy on WSJ.com’s Real Time Economics blog. He won awards from the Associated Press Managing Editors of Texas for best business reporting and best deadline writing. He received the National Press Foundation’s Thomas L. Stokes Award for Best Energy Writing for coverage of Texas's electricity grid operator that led to convictions of several officials on organized crime charges. He also received the national print media award from the National Association of Consumer Advocates for stories about credit scoring.

Reddy received a degree in bioethics and history from Brown University, where he was executive editor of The Brown Daily Herald. He is on the adjunct faculty at Georgetown University, teaching a course on the digital journalism landscape.

Reddy serves on the boards of the National Press Foundation and the International Center for Journalists. He’s a former national secretary of the South Asian Journalists Association and former treasurer of the Asian American Journalists Association of Texas.

He has appeared on dozens of television and radio programs and serves as a regular panelist on American Public Media’s "Marketplace."
